Bioactives from microalgae: A review on process intensification using hydrodynamic cavitation

Abstract Microalgae are emerging as an important renewable and sustainable source of high-value biomolecules having applications in food, cosmetics, pharmaceutical, agrochemicals fuel industries. Deriving from micro-algae however faces numerous process technological challenges. It is essential to develop innovative ways intensifying processes used for valorising microalgae. Hydrodynamic cavitation (HC) offers attractive platform intensification relevant microalgae because its scalability, ability handle dense slurries, intense physicochemical effects, low cost. Here we briefly review the overall involved deriving micro-algae. Opportunities these enhancing productivity processing via HC then identified critically reviewed. The current state art yet unresolved challenges highlighted. An attempt made identify specific suggestions help direct future research efforts. will be useful researchers practitioners aiming harness products
